Hey Survivor,
My favorite month of the year is finally upon us! All streamers and channels are playing something scary, and everyone is searching for the next book to make them sleep with the light on. I am talking about October! I hope your month has kicked off well; mine had started better than last month when I was hit with COVID-19, a hurricane, and a BioLab exploding. It was a weird month, but I’m covid-free and ready to share 13 sets of emails with some of the scariest and creepiest movies or books I’ve come across. If you know of any that I should check out, let me know, but let’s kick Day 1 of “13 Nights of Terror” off!

One random night when Angel and Ayden were off to see the in-laws, and I had just gotten home after work, I decided I was gonna kick my shoes off, relax, and watch something on Netflix. When I opened the app, the movie that looked back at me was Last Shift. I have seen this movie pop up one or two times before, but I never really thought about watching it that night. I decided to give it a try, and when I say this movie isn’t a middle-of-the-night movie, I mean it’s not a middle-of-the-night movie; turn the lights on now!
Last Shift follows a rookie police officer who wants to live up to her late dad’s legacy and join his old precinct. She shows up, and the whole department is apparently moving to a new building. This is the last night at this precinct. However, for some reason, someone has to stay and watch over the last of the stuff and take any calls that slip through. So it’s up to our brown-nosing rookie to stay in this abandoned police station and direct all calls to the new station… oh, and did I forget to tell you a satanic cult leader and his followers died in that very station a few years ago? I feel like this is the first day worth quitting over.
Last Shift had many things that I loved about it, but my two most significant things were the ending and the overall visuals. The head criminal’s hell form does look like something that’s escaped the gates of hell. I’m also a big fan of old stories in new locations and the small universe that they built; everything seemed to have tied together really well, and what you thought you knew went out the window at some point. So I had a great time with this one, I’m always recommending it to people so you should check it out too.
Well, that’s it for me, Survivor. I’ll be back later in the week with another recommendation to bring your night some terror. If you have some movies or books you think will make me sleep with the light on, feel free to send them my way or leave a comment for the rest of the survivors to see. As always, stay safe, stay woke, and stay alive!
